August 3 Thanksgiving Thursday
Psalm 107 is one of those passages that gets richer for me every time I read it. I enjoy marking in my Bible and watching themes emerge in my readings. I can also keep track of the layers of work my Father is accomplishing for His name. He is patient and kind, and Psalm 107 is a great comfort and reminder of His beauty. In the stanzas of this Psalm, it doesn’t seem to matter how the people get themselves into trouble, He will deliver them. If they wander into trouble, create their own trouble, get in trouble from the hands of others, or fall into the trouble of dealing with nature and the created order, when they remember the Lord, and call to Him from their distress…He answers! The repeated phrase: “Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!,” reminds me how precious my thanksgiving is to the Lord, and the testimony it speaks to the people around me. I encourage you to read Psalm 107 in its entirety and bless the Lord with me.
Thank You for the beautiful clouds and dazzling sunrises I’ve seen!
You are so imaginative and creative in so many areas…but particularly fruit! Fuzzy peaches that can range from super-sweet to tangy and ziggedy-zagged striped watermelon that thumps hollow when it’s ready! How delightful and delicious! My taste buds and eyeballs say thank You!
I am overjoyed and full of gratitude at how You minister to Your people through Your Spirit. You never forget, never leave any of Your children out and effortlessly hold us together.
I praise You for Your steadfast love and goodness, You endure forever.
Thank You for evidence of learning and change in my own life.
It is amazing to watch different plants continue to bloom even in the heat of August. I am thankful You constantly provide natural entertainment.
Praise and thanksgiving belong to You simply because You are You. I am grateful that You remind me over and over.
I am thankful for how You take seemingly insignificant things and weave them together into epic masterpieces, and how You allow me to be part of Your story!
I am so thankful for Your amazing peace that passes all understanding, and how You guard my life, O Lord!
A prayer based on Psalm 148
Praise You Lord! Praise You from the heavens, and the skies! Praise Him, all His angels, and all the armies of heaven! Praise Him sun, moon and all you shining, twinkling stars! Praise Him you heavens above and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord! For He commanded and they were created. He established them forever and ever; He gave a decree and it will never be revoked. Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all the ocean depths, fire and hail, snow and mist, wind and weather fulfilling and obeying His Word! Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Beasts and all livestock, small scurrying things and soaring birds! Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and young women together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven; His glory towers over the earth and heaven! He has raised up salvation for His people; He has made His people strong, His faithful ones, for the people of Israel who are near to Him. Praise the Lord!
