Even when you’re running
This is for you, my friend.
I can see your shoulders slumped from all the disappointments and unexpected hardships. Every road seems blocked and the detour is under construction. You feel alone and hurt, and anger is at the surface in every conversation. I see you turning to the pitiful comforts of this temporary world, and they aren’t enough to ease the pain. So much pain…being cast out of friend groups, sacred spaces becoming dangerous, and life uncomfortably pressing at every angle.
It won’t be enough for you if I tell you I understand. You’re angry. Over it. And so I pray. I pray that you discover the friend who sticks closer than a brother, who awakens your spirit to the glory He offers. I pray as the night continues to envelop all that brought you light, that you are able to remember His faithfulness. I pray that you find the words for your lament, and allow yourself to groan along with His Spirit, deepening your trust in the One who created you and loves you beyond words.
And should you choose to run, He’ll be there, too.
