Fried eggroll cheese sticks
This is a quick and easy snack to prepare. I also reheat these in my air fryer, and have wonderful success with them becoming crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
I get 2 packages of cheese sticks, in order to use up all of the eggroll wrappers. Left over cheese is easier for my family to use than left over wrappers. Both the cheese and the wrappers freeze and thaw well, so sometimes I will just stick the leftovers in freezer appropriate packaging and freeze until the next time we need them.
We use pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce or homemade marinara sauce to dip these little wonders. Don’t make it hard on yourself.
If you’re making these yourself (alone), get all the sticks rolled up and ready to go before you begin the frying. Otherwise, you may stall in the process. In my home, we do this preparation as an assembly line, and I man the fryer. The Adapter unwraps the cheese sticks, The Pioneer wraps the sticks, I fry, and The Discerner seasons them on the plate. It works well for us.
Gather your ingredients.

Unwrap the mozzarella sticks. Open the eggroll wrappers, and cover with a damp cloth or paper towel to keep them from drying out.
Get a little bowl of water to seal the wrappers. Wrap a stick by laying it horizontally on an eggroll wrapper and be sure the ends are sealed, or there will be a mozzarella mess in your fryer. In the middle picture below, add water to the top “triangle” of the wrapper, and then press well to seal as you finish rolling it around the cheese stick.



Heat oil to 3500. Fry for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. If the oil is deep enough to cover the cheese sticks, you won’t even have to turn them. Remove them to a plate to drain, and season with garlic salt or plain salt, or nothing. We add some Parmesan cheese, too. Eat these sticks warm!


Fried Eggroll Cheese Sticks
Ingredients
- 1 package eggroll wrappers
- 2 packages mozzarella string cheese sticks
- water, for sealing eggroll wrapper
- peanut oil, or other frying oil
- Parmesan cheese, for serving
- prepared tomato sauce (marinara, pizza or spaghetti), for serving
- seasoning, if desired
Instructions
- Pour oil in pan and begin to heat over medium-high heat. Oil should be at least 1 inch deep in bottom of pan. Temperature of oil should be at 350℉ for best results.
- Unwrap cheese sticks.
- Wrap cheese sticks in eggroll wrappers, being certain ends are completely closed. Lightly spread water on last of triangle to seal wrapper to itself.
- Place 2-3 wrapped cheese sticks in hot oil and fry, turning if needed, for about 2 minutes per side, or until wrapper is golden brown.
- Remove cheese sticks to plate to drain and sprinkle with desired seasoning or cheese.
- Serve hot with preferred dipping sauce.
