My list of books from 2021

Man. Just looking back at my Bible from 2021, I am moved to grief. So much loss that year. And regularly interspersed was healing, bright spots and reminders from my loving Father. I stored those moments like treasure in my heart by documenting…but, in the moment, my whole being hurt. Hurt from every direction. Every prop was pulled out from under me. Every self-reliance was exposed and put down. Rejection. Abandonment. Betrayal. What a follow-up year to 2020. And sitting in 2023, I am so thankful. I rejoice in all of the deaths, because new life has come and is coming. This paradox is the Kingdom. So, so grateful.

I quit everything in 2021. Well, by the end of that year. In the beginning, I was hopeful that the curse of COVID had moved along. I tried starting a new group meeting with some girlfriends of mine. By June, everything was done. We even left the church we had attended all of our time living in this small town. I felt completely misunderstood, unseen, hated and desperate. Again, I see now that this was just an opening for greater opportunities of faith. Only by my Father’s grace could I put one foot in front of the other. Oh, what mercy is available to His children!

In the year 2021, I committed to reading the Robert Murray M’Cheyne plan again. I also did a children’s study with the 3 kids called Exploring the Bible by David Murray. We focused on small chunks and memorizing scripture. I read through the Psalms and Proverbs each month. And the Hebrew word “shalom” was a captivating focus for me. Completeness, wholeness, peace and healing. The word is HUGE. I used a journaling Bible again in the New King James Version. This Bible has The Discerner’s name on it, he is my middle child. Maybe this will be a keepsake for him later on.
