Was 2022 really just last year? How does time just compress and spread out, speed up and slow down all at the same time? Last year was a blur. I encountered a lot of healing, my Father confirmed His voice to me again and some more. I still faced fall-out from 2020 and 2021. Life can just be hard. I did a lot of reading for my oldest son. I am not ready to turn him loose into the landscape of young adult books on his own yet. I re-read some oldies with him, and then previewed some others for him. I censored some of those books, too.
For my Bible reading, I used a chronological study Bible for the year. I forgot to tell you in my 2021 post, that I started the MasterLife Discipleship course at the end of 2021, so I was finishing that up for the first part of 2022. I memorized key verses from a lot of the Old Testament books. I read a Proverb a day. I read through the book of Ephesians several times. I journaled in an undated calendar, and I see a lot of gaps. I remember feeling a little chaotic in my soul when approaching the Word. Looking back, I am certain the Lord was reteaching me how to listen to Him and just relax in the following. I am so grateful for His abundant grace!

What about you? Do you have any books to recommend? Also, if you’d like to ask me specific questions about any of the books you see, just leave a comment!
This is for you, my friend. I can see your shoulders slumped from all the disappointments and unexpected hardships. Every road seems blocked and the detour is under construction. You feel alone and hurt, and anger is at the surface in every conversation. I see you turning to the pitiful comforts of this temporary world,…
The Lord led me to this song while I was searching for another. It is catchy smash-up of lots of scripture that also captures the artist’s life experience. When we read God’s Word and He assimilates it into our everyday life, that is His Truth and His Spirit at work. I like how this tune…
It was several years ago that I started reading the entire book of Psalms, a handful at a time, each month. There, I found the rich emotional and passionate vocabulary that I felt had been stifled in me. I feel big feelings, and a wide range of emotion, and I couldn’t place certain feelings of…
I encourage you to read Zechariah 4 (especially verse 6) for some of the context of the words for this song. While the words “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” were originally spoken to Zechariah to relay to Zerubbabel, I do believe these words are applicable in the life of Christ-followers…
Old hymns have a way of getting into the deep parts of my spirit. The lyrics are rich in truth, often based in scripture and sometimes have a surprising turn of phrase that makes me think. The actual tune doesn’t matter much to me, and I search for updated melodies and arrangements so that I…
I am in a comfortable space right now. It was our first full week without school or a bevy of commitments, and so the pace is slower, and I enjoyed the change. I have noticed a lack of words in my prayers, journal and otherwise. It’s almost like I am at a loss, but not…
