October 12 Thanksgiving Thursday

I have so much to be thankful for today. This season of the year can seem fleeting, and yet, it is so rich and full of meaning. I have friends who are anxious as the holidays creep closer, since this season is a prelude to a dreary and depressing time of year. The light is fading, days are shorter and yet…there is hope.

Add your thanks to mine, as we choose to remember the goodness of our Father and His many blessings! We could be a chorus of holy voices to praise His Name. He is definitely worthy.

I am thankful for the cool wind blowing the leaves from the trees.

I rejoice at the different colors: the sky a more vibrant blue, the changing leaves, the grasses that are fading.

My heart warms when I begin looking back over the year. What a year of new beginnings, crumbling endings and many mysteries. Steadfast through it all is my Father and His love.

Give thanks! I am encouraged by the natural change of seasons and the reminder that seasons come and go.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, the many tastes and textures of the recipes we enjoy this time of year are beckoning. Apples, pumpkins, cranberries and other flavors for the fall have my tastebuds excited!

Blankets, hot drinks and snuggles! These mornings and evenings are magical.

It is time for us to relax a bit here, and I am grateful for a change of pace.

A change of wardrobe! It is wonderful to freshen up my closet a bit and make space for layers and layers of clothes for these cool days.

Special gratitude for old friends and the familiarity of their presence.

A prayer from Psalm 111

I praise the Lord with all my heart and soul in the gathering of other righteous believers. All of His works are great, and I will never get tired of studying them. His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever. My Father has made His marvelous works to be remembered; and above all, He is to be remembered! He is gracious and full of compassion. He has provided for those who fear Him, and He will never forget His promise. He has declared to His family the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations. The works of His hands are truth and justice, His teachings and commandments are sure. They stand for all time and eternity and are done in truth and uprightness. He has sent redemption in Jesus; He has commanded His covenant forever. Holy and awesome is the Name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and good understanding for those who do His commandments.

His praise endures forever. Amen.
