You are not a disappointment

You are not a disappointment. You do not disappoint God. God cannot be disappointed. And He especially would not be disappointed in you.

Look it up in the dictionary: Disappointment is a feeling of dissatisfaction. Or the response to failure. Or the feeling after expectations have not been met. I want you to see this can only apply to finite-minded humans. This can not be thrust upon our Almighty All-knowing Father. He does not expect things from us beyond what we can do nor to be anyone we are not, and He is His own standard. He sent Jesus to take all of our failure and sin upon Himself, and so He had to know it all. There is nothing that can surprise Him, be hidden from Him or thwart Him, and so He cannot be disappointed.

When a person says that I am a disappointment to God, I laugh at them and what their understanding shows me. Their pronouncement is usually an attempt at manipulation, and it reeks of man. I am not easily swayed by guilt, and yet, I can see others wilt before this pronouncement. And the things that come from our mouth have come from our hearts. What do these people hide from others while thinking they hide from the Lord? I admit we can disappoint ourselves, and yet our cry to our Father should include the words, “not my will but Yours.” I trust He has made full provision for all of my sins in His Son’s sacrifice. He has also freed me from the power of sin, and made me an entirely new creation! If His power can do that for me, in me, who am I to think I have the power to undo, or hold in contempt what has been sealed? I am human, and I do not disappoint Almighty God. He is too God for that.
